Do I pay the Small Business Energy Alliance (SBEA) for the efficiency upgrades to our business?
No — You pay the contractor directly for your portion of the cost. SBEA pays the remainder with public benefit funding.
What experience does the SBEA have?
We have a proven 20-year track record of helping small businesses save energy through education, information and equipment upgrades.
How long does the free energy audit take?
Our experienced energy surveyor will only take approximately 45 minutes of your time.
Do I have to make all three improvements (lighting, thermostat, and A/C tuneup) in order to participate in the program?
No — Once you've taken our free energy audit, our qualified SBEA surveyor will give you a list of efficiency recommendations most suited for your business needs.
You can choose to do none of the improvements or any of them — it's up to you.
Once I have the free energy audit results, how do I look for a contractor to make the efficiency improvements?
You don't have to look for a contractor — The SBEA has already recruited and pre-qualified expert contractors to help you. And since we've negotiated bulk contracts with them, you get the advantage of big-business discounted prices for your small business.
Will we have to close the business to install the energy-saving improvements?
No — We've trained our contractors to complete the installations with the least possible disruption to your business activity;
the installations will be completed at your convenience.
Is someone going to make sure that the efficiency improvements actually work once the contractor has finished installing them?
Yes — Our expert surveyors have experience with these products and services and will come back to your business to make sure they're in top working condition.
