Fine
Art Gallery Appreciates the Art of Saving Money and Energy
The
Business
Fine Art Gallery specializes in hand-recreated copies of
the masters in genuine oil paint. Unlike many reproductions, which are
computer generated and then "hand-enhanced," the Fine Art Gallery
carries oil paintings that are 100% hand painted. Prices range from a
small reproduction to a large, 48" x 70" painting which
sells in the $1,000 price range.
The
Challenge
Without adequate overhead lighting, the paintings lacked
depth and dimension.
The
Solution
Gone are the days of noisy, humming, flickering fluorescent
systems. Unattractive lighting color is a thing of the past. The new,
high efficiency 8-foot and 4-foot fluorescent replacement light tubes
last longer (up to 24,000 hours), shed attractive lighting color and need
less maintenance. The ballast that helps the fluorescent fixture operate
is more efficient and quieter.
The
Change
The retrofit provides bright lighting that shows off the
paintings' dimension, and makes it easier to sell artwork.
The
Savings
Fine Art Gallery is enjoying a 20% savings in utility costs
since the retrofit.
Owner
Dr. Julian Lee, who learned about the program through his landlord, J.D.
Properties, said, "The change in lighting has improved the atmosphere
in the gallery. We will recover the initial investment in a short time,
especially since our landlord agreed to pay for half the cost."
